I thought the pics of shattered screen discs was a bit of an exaggeration, but sure enough after receiving my new Pesado set for my Dual boiler, I opened it up and that disc virtually fell down in three pieces!!! Ok, ok it’s needed I thought, but the real test was making a coffee, bit of a false start as you must adjust your dose level as the screen is thicker than the tin foil one Breville gives you! The dosing ring itself is very well made and feels solid in hand, with excellent build quality. I use a 9Barista with a 53.5 mm IMS basket, and since the dosing ring is listed as 54 mm, I initially thought it would be a good fit. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The IMS basket measures about 65 mm across, while the dosing ring’s internal diameter is only 62 mm, making it too small to sit properly. The difference between these two filters is stark. Both in the design and material (hard steel vs aluminum). You can see the difference in how the water flows. It does seem like the coffee is a bit smoother with more consistent crema but not sure if that's real or just bias. Hard to test really. I can say there's - or seems to be - less of an issue with grinds clogging the filter the way did with the original. I've checked a few times and no grind accumulation. I love everything about the Pesado dispersion disk and shower screen! It's high quality, performs amazingly well, and it is a great stainless steel option to replace the stock brass parts. I highly recommend giving it a try, you won't regret it. It's a welcome update to old technology. Product arrived in great condition and of high quality. Installed easy, with my only suggestion would be to include installation instructions or a link to the youtube video to show how to install, as the package included no instructions or directions. For my Breville portafilter to fit, had to ensure I had the double dose basket and ensure that the correct level of grounds are in there.
