9x12x1.25, Walnut base with Cherry and Guatambu inlay. 30 Deg V-Grove - 3 Flute, VSC30, 1/8 UCEM, UC2175. The design is a modified Broinwood Rose Garden inlay plan. I find the 9x12 kits works great for display boards. Love the color of the Guatambu wood. TAM

Great kit! I did one per the plan, then did another adding text with charge map to 3d option like the stars are done. I used the same flat depth for the text vcarve as the stars and filled with red epoxy.

CIC suckered me into buying these blanks and the bits by giving away the digital file for the eagle. Brilliant marketing. The finished board looks amazing. I'd love to sell it, but not sure I can get enough to justify making another one. At $115+ in materials that will be hard. I have it priced at $250 and have not had any interest.

I had not tried a large panel before and i was very pleased. It was flat within .2 mm and carved like a dream. The carving took over 3 hours at 50 inches per minute with a 45 degree vbit. It turned out perfect.

This tiger Bamx is really great material. It makes projects really pop. I’ve found CIC to be very helpful. This is one of Ryan’s files. Although not original, it’s a blast making these things. And importantly, it gives me wins and successes, all the while teaching me. One day soon, using what I’m learning from these projects, I’ll be adding more complicated designs of my own.

I have been experimenting with relief carving recently. I purchased the golden girl downcut for the roughing tool path and the 1/16 Radius - 3.6 Deg 3D Tapered Ballnose - 1/4" Shank - TBN1-16 for the finishing tool path. The results are fantastic. Update: CIC made this right for me and I couldn’t have asked for more from them. This is a great company to do business with! The screws are too cheap. First screw the head popped off. Then I tried to back out what was left with vise grips but it just twisted and broke again. Finally had to use my multi tool to cut it out enough to hide it behind a foot piece placed to cover it up. That screw came apart too. Using a screwdriver by hand. I have no choice but to cut the end of this panel off and ...

Very easy to carve. I found that a depth of .1 for the v carve is about what it takes to cleanly cut through the top layer. On two occasions, in a spot or two, a .08 depth of cut, there was a thin film of the top layer left. So to be safe, I use .1. Love this stuff. Does make a mess and takes some clean up around the carve with a stiff nylon brush and occasional a small blade.

I love working with this stuff and my customers can't get enough of it. It is so beautiful. Make sure to use the Golden Boy Roughing bit and the 1/4" round over bits. The rougher bit saves wear and tear in the bowl bits. This stuff is tough!

I done a. Practice piece on two pine boards and it went perfectly, however when I attempted it on poplar and walnut they didn’t fit. Somthing in my set up. I have two beautiful wall plaques now but I’ll attempt again soon. I’m still learning. I think I got over confident the second attempt and over looked a step. Excellent bits at a great price. I got it quick and the hand written note is an excellent touch! The 1/64th tbn cuts like butter and my inlays came out looking great. Nice clean edges and very little cleanup after the carve. This will be my go to bit for inlays from now on.

Tough part was making sure the barrel hinges holes were the right size. Like you said, there are different size 1/4 inch bits. I found that a downcut bit works best. Less sanding afterwards.

I enlarged the box so that I could add a cribbage board on the top and apparently I didn’t shift the hinges on one side after enlarging so the holes don’t line up. Everything cut great though. Trying to decide if I should plug the holes and fix this one.

I just wanted to send you a pic of one of my later shadow boxes. The flag was flown at every unit the member served at, and acts as the stars for the shadow box flag. The handles on the helm were my first rotary job I did on my CNC. I bought all the wood from TJ. Maple, cherry and walnut. Has a rechargable battery pack for the LED lights. Customer wanted either a ship wheel or a wavy flag. He got both.

This is the picture of the SVG file that I converted into an Autocad file. The Autocad file was used to create a sketch for a 3D model in Alibre Design Expert. I broke the model into 7 varios colored parts and exported as files to 3D print. The white background is 5mm with 2mm deep cut to locate the 5mm thick colored parts that are glued to the white base similar to an linlay. I also plan to do a carving on my cnc router or try on my laser.

Wow, what a difference those brass feets make... I usually added 0.3 rubber feets... but This brass does make a difference, it goes so nicely along with the Walnut and Maple... even it is just a little piece but it makes the look perfect... love it.
