The Sketchbox mystery bags are always an incredible value! I especially loved the colored pencil set in the dry media grab bag! I primarily create with watercolors, but I love adding to them with pencils. I have several ideas in mind now for mixed media projects! I don’t even think twice about purchasing the mystery bags!

I was wondering what all the hype was about. Now I know! The paints keep their vibrancy and are easy to lift. These pictures were painted in watercolor from SketchBox, specifically their opaque watercolor palette. I would order these boards again.

Easy to work on this black Stonehenge 100% cotton aqua cold press with watercolor and acrylic ink pens. The surface is absorbent and colors remain on the paper well. Love the surface gemstone colors by Kuretake on this paper. So vibrant.

I buy these Sketchboxes to jumpstart my creativity. This one contained clear Niji crayons, the first time I have experienced them. The picture shows one of the watercolor cards that came in the box. The brown of the tree was from the sepia gouache that was included. The watercolors were from a previous Sketchbox I had bought.

I LOVE THESE SO MUCH I JUST HAD TO GO BUY THE WHOLE SET! The creamy texture is like coloring with the highest quality lipstick but then add water to get the most beautiful pigmented shades! Green, Brown - how did I get these! Well, I was quite happy with the range of colors that I got from these three colors. Playing with how they mix and layer brought out colors that I didn't know it had. This was done on a little 4x6 sheet using a Degas painting as inspiration.

I purchased the sketchbox exclusive 18 opaque watercolors thinking they would be similar to kuretake opaque watercolors. They are not as opaque but are still a good quality vibrant watercolors. The case is slim with a large area for mixing colors. I did have fun swatching the colors out and painting some flowers on the side. I will enjoy using these watercolors!

The Zig BrusH20 is absolutely necessary to my travel set-ups. It is the most compact water brush I have found, the tip is flexible but firm, the water flow is controllable, and it's durable. I've been using one for over 2 years now and it is in great shape.

I have never made art with liquid watercolor before, and I have a lot to learn. This is just a quick sketch to see how it behaved on paper. I will have to learn how to diffuse the colors, but look how rich this magenta is! I already had the dark green from a previous box, but I had not used it before. I should have thinned it out a bit for this quick sketch. Live and learn. That is what this is all about.

The pigment in these paints is superb. The shimmer in the one is so lovely. I didn’t think I really enjoyed watercolor until I tried these. I will definitely be looking for more colors. The little birch wood block they’re laid in is also just so cute and eco-friendly. Highly recommend.

Opening this grab bag was a bit like Christmas Morning. I received several watercolor sets I will carry along on vacations. The Signature watercolor palette got damaged in shipping (soft paks are prone to crushing in transit) but it's still completely useable. That palette, the color pencils plus the color shift and the Beam birch cookie and water brushes and pad of paper? Perfect for my next adventure (Alaska!)

I have been using these markers to emphasize my colored pencil alphabet. They are great! I just wish they lasted longer. The Holbeins are great and I will be investing in more for the opaque sections of my watercolor paintings. I love the Daniel Smith card. Tiny samples to play with are so much fun! Thank you for adding brushes to each box to work through the lessons with. I usually use cold press watercolor paper, but this Rembrandt hot press is interesting. Another good box, ya’ll!
