The mystery grab bags are always filled with tons of awesome supplies! You always choose great brands and top quality items. This bag definitely exceeded my expectations, and was a great value as well! I never hesitate to grab the Sketchbox mystery bags…and an added bonus…the customer service is also top notch! I had a question about one of the sets in the bag, and they got right back to me with the needed information!

Now to start off with - markers ain't my thing - yet. So, I keep trying to play with markers in different ways hoping to finally "get it." I don't think I "got it" but I certainly made strides. With any set of a specific group of colors, it is challenging when you reach for colors that are not there but it can be handy to try figuring out what you can do with what you have.

The pick 10 was a really good value. I was able to sample high quality supplies I have been curious about. I used the Derwent tinted charcoal paints for the artwork shown, and although they were high quality, I learned I prefer my standard watercolors. I also got the inktense paints and pencils and they are really interesting to play with. The Stoneground Gouache half pan is beautiful! I’ll be investing in more soon. This just shows one thing you can do with the W.C powder . . .mask where you don’t want the powder, then dampen your surface and lightly put on pixie dust . . And if it doesn’t spread, mist some water. Lots of fun!!!

All the images I posted with this review were started using the pencil in this sketchbox. I never thought I would be someone to rave about how good a pencil is. It's even harder to do when you can't put it into words. It just feels good to draw with. Everything in the box was great, but the pencil has quickly become my go-to instrument daily.

I actually filmed using some of the supplies and posted it to Instagram and tagged SketchBox (and Schminke aqua drops and Jacquard liquid watercolors). You can see it @BettyGraceStudio (it is Day 21 of my Watercolor Bootcamp series). I was very impressed with everything from my Sketchbox grab bag! It was great value and high quality supplies. I was thrilled to get the Gamboge tube and the Daniel Smith stick. And the Kuretake pan! Loved it all!

This was certainly worth the price! I was very pleased with all I got including new items I haven't tried before. The travel watercolor kit was beyond my expectations with a very nice carrying case and included Vivivas' watercolor sheets which I've wanted to try for a while. A full size pad of Strathmore WC paper was also included.

So, this bag showed up on a day when I really needed a pick me up and it really made my day. Somehow Sketchbox knew exactly the products I had been eyeing on the website for months? I love the ink pens, especially. The brush pens are so much fun. And the refillable ink pen makes journaling with color so much fun and beautiful. There were even some new colors of the colored pencils I loved from a previous box.

Sketched with Sketchbox pencils, pencil, pencilKoala Tools Bear Claw pencil, and Copic Acrea pen. I love these pencils. I usually grab them first before I grab any of my numerous other pencils. The colors are pretty, they glide over the paper, they mix and blend, and there’s nothing I don’t like about them. I keep an eye out for when you introduce new colors.

This is the first time I've tried these acrylic markers. They dry to a matte finish and the colors are rich. They would be great for illustration. I am using them to create greeting cards on mixed media paper.

I bought this because I am drawn to this color. I have been trying to create female cardinas based on intricate photos. This particular cardinal had so much what first you would think would be red colors, but when I magnify the photo that was red, and there was yellow, and there was pink or mauve.. So when I did my sketch of this one, I used this fine liner on the feathers in the crest and near the eye. Then here and there I used it for marks. I’m really pleased with this marker.

This grab bag was a treasure chest! I received 16 items, including full sets and a very nice watercolor journal. The brands were top of the line. The M Graham and Holbein gouaches alone are worth the price of the box. There were paintbrushes (who can't use a winsor&newton #4 round???), liners, art markers, cretacolor charcoal pencil set. I don't know if the colors are selected to work together, but they all do. An impeccably curated bag!

Box 33961 was a Monochromatic Pastel Premium Box. I just got it today and was excited to play after swatching on that Royal Blue tone paper. These are the best soft pastels I have used. I have Richeson, Rembrandt, and some other top pastels. These were firm, but gave great coverage. Pastels are messy, but these went on without a lot of lost pigment. Love the paper worked very well with the charcoal from June 2024 SketchBox supplies. Blending the charcoal was easy, when I used the kneaded eraser it didn’t damage the paper. That is a plus since I seem to sometimes have a hard hand. I ended up drawing an embryo and the paper worked great.

It takes the watercolor very well with minimal warping. Cold pressed is my favorite! I'm using some inks i got in one of my Sketchboxes on this, and it takes that as well with no bleeding. I'm trying to paint a Fairburn Agate.

This is a new-to-me medium. I have tried pastels in an art workshop, but they were chalky. These are so creamy and smooth, and they are messy too. The colors - wow! If I were walking through an art supply store looking at these colors, I would not have put these together. Using SketchBox is teaching me how to get more out of ALL of my products. I found using these challenging but fun and am looking forward to using them as I learn more of oil pastels. Thank you, SketchBox!

Its my first time using watercolor brush markers. It likely will affect how I use watercolors as well. I like being able to do the layering, wash, and lift techniques that I use with watercolors. With only using the 4 colors, it did force a limited palette. Now, I wasn't getting as crisp lines as I would have liked so I pulled out the Emott fine liners that I also got through Sketchbox. That was the drawing with the wine glass on the balcony post.

Wow. I see people taking about the sticks as an alternative to using pans. I don't think I will do that, but using them to make marks on the paper directly has been fun. I will likely buy more sticks in my most used colors.

Absolutely the most fun watercolor medium I’ve ever used. I’m not a professional artist, however I use doing art as physical therapy which also makes me happy. I chose Derwent inktense tinted charcoal and paintbrushes that I used in this watercolor painting called triplets.
