This is the best propane fire pit I have used to-date. It is solidly built, works as advertised, puts out radiant heat, and is efficient for the performance. No argument, this fire pit is not cheap, but I don’t know of anything better as of this review. The manual didn’t mention the A-Flame metal cover plate will expand, but I observed this in Howl videos. And the manual suggested only three turns on the regulator, but this wasn’t enough to light the Barcoals, so I went a few more and it lighted...

This thing isn't cheap but that's the price you pay for quality. It like my yeti cooler. Buy it once and have it for life. When you get something that's built like a tank to last the elements, you aren't buying a new one very few years when it stop working. This thing rips and I love just using the bar coals to keep warm and still stargaze. It gives off just enough glow to see and keeps you nice and toasty while also conserving a lot of propane. I waited to review Howl R4 until after a couple of trips. The first trip was a week on the beach, with a constant onshore wind. With only 2 or 3 people around it, we mostly just had just the barcoals going, as the wind whipped the flame all around.
