Love how easy it is to set up and have a fire going. We normally have to situate our rig in a way to make sure the smoke from a normal fire isn’t billowing inside making everything smell like smoke.
We park, and then put the howl wherever we want to sit. Daytime? Set it up in the shade! Windy? Set it up behind a windbreak. Not windy but want some ambiance, set it up on top of a cement picnic table! Whatever ya want!

This is the best propane firepit I have every used! I enjoy it very much. It was windy when I got it started and that didn't bother it a bit. It really cranks out the heat once you get the BarCoal fired up!

Quality of workmanship is fantastic. We get campfire bans every year so are going to enjoy this so much over our current lousy propane fire ring. We had a wood burning fire last weekend but it was damp and cold so we put the howl between our camp chairs and felt much warmer. I always say you get what you pay for and I feel I got very good value with the howl. I think I will be passing it down to my kids. Just would like to have an option to cook a pot of stew on it.

Just took our r1 on an RV trip across western Colorado and Utah. Fire risks are super high so wood fires are banned at almost every campground we’ve stayed at and the Howl has been a great alternative.
It’s super compact, sets up really fast, and creates a great fire. Way better than trying to lug around a gas fire pit designed to live on your backyard!

This thing comes in pretty clutch. Especially during late summer / early fall when we typically get a burn ban in the PNW. Also, my wife hates being cold, and the barcoals are a game changer, closest thing to a real campfire in terms of radiating heat. I’m hoping for an R1/R4 hybrid in the near future that has barcoals, mid-size form factor & folding legs 🤞🏽

We got ours with the 20’ extension hose they have - hooked directly to our onboard 80lb of propane via a splitter they supplied as well - the flame and heat this little powerhouse delivers it amazing

I just got mine today and fired it up. It was so interesting I ran it again after dark to watch the barcoal part better as it heated.
It is impressive, especially the infrared tube design and operation. As a mechanical engineer who focused on thermal fluids, it is really fun to see and feel this in action. I had a great conversation with my high school son about what is happening there and the induced airflow and balancing included in the design.
Looking forward to much use with it.

Finally got to use my R4. Not cheap compared to other propane heaters, but very pleased with it. We have a toy hauler with a patio, and camping out on the Olympic peninsula on a chilly, gray, rainy day, with the rear awning out and sitting here on the patio, only the barcoal section running on low, I am so toasty warm. Far better than any other propane firepit I've ever used.

Just buy it... seriously, this thing is everything everyone is saying it is. It is as hot as a wood fire in the same way a wood fire feels without the smoke and its built like a tank.
I got mine today and fired it up. Absolutley amazed at how hot it got... if I had a need for a second one I wouldnt hesitate to buy another. I could go on and on.... just buy it...

There's not much to say other than the HOWL speaks for itself. I just went on 4 day hunting trip and the HOWL was our primary heat source, without it we would've left after a night especially with Breck being in a stage 1 fire ban while we were out there. I think we ran the HOWL for 10-12 hours a day and performed exactly as it should.

It’s not going to replace a wood camp fire. But that’s exactly the point. It’s not suppose to. This is for when you roll in to camp late at night and just want to wind down for 1/2 hour with a beer but not be fireless. This will be perfect for the times when I don’t want to, or don’t have the time to make a fire and just want to warm up by the flames for a few minutes before hopping in bed. I ordered a carrying bag from the he OverlandGearGuy and went with the camouflage set up and they are meant for us who don’t want our R1 to get banged around in our trucks . So far so good . The only recommendation i have for the future is please include the propane hose with the red barrel b made out of metal and not plastic please . Thank you
