After being around a ton of R4 units I was skeptical about not having the extra heat those larger units put out. I was pleasantly surprised with the heat output of this unit, and you cannot beat how compact it is!

Absolutely awesome firepit. Punches out heat once the tubes start to glow and gets you warm in no time. I do have an issue with the hose though. The regulator on it is very sticky and seems it’s not working well, have to crank back and forth several times before it releases and then allows propane through.

The Howl R1 is no joke! It’s a serious, heat making machine. We have used it during a camping in PA, and as a quick heat source for an outdoor gathering at home. Looking forward to bringing it to the beach for the cool evenings, as well as several additional camping trips this summer. Quick to set up, and quick to pump out the heat. Great product!

Really impressed with the build quality and I’m excited for years of sitting around this thing in some of the most beautiful places. Also, size matters and this packs into the 4Runner so much easier than my old lava rock filled round propane pit. Space is a premium on longer trips and this is exactly what I was looking for!

I opened up the box, connected the propane bottle and it fired right up! The weather was very gloomy with low clouds, some rain mixed with snow and wind…PERFECT conditions for my R4’s first experience! It performed like a champ and I can’t wait to toss it in my raft for multi-day rafting/camping trips.

Photo shows (almost) lowest setting. Higher settings do make much higher flames, but also more gas flow noise - low is perfect! Tried to connect it to the OEM BBQ gas outlet in our RV, but it did not deliver enough gas to create a satisfying flame. Connecting directly to a 20lb LPG bottle did the trick. Super high quality - worth the price!

Love this thing. Puts out a great flame and warmth. It’s solid, built like brick sh*thouse is what my dad would say about it. Plus it’s super compact and convenient for those times I can’t or don’t want to build a wood burning campfire.

It took a lot to convince to move from a regular fire pit (which I still love when there are no burn bans) a propane fire pit but when I did decide to it was a no brainer. The Howl has worked flawlessly since received. I have five propane fire pits and the Howl definitely puts out the most heat for amount of propane used. very efficient! Love it so much we use it at home and when camping. Also use for tailgate lunches while skiing.

Howl is a complete game-changer for outdoor camping and keeping you warm — I’ve used it for hunting all season long (snow and rain), allowing us to get warm while making dinner out of the truck. As it warms up after a few minutes, it puts out some serious heat. We've also used it at the house for roasting marshmallows with the kids. No smoke, all the heat. It's nice to not have to worry about wood. Also, using the strap allows you to secure it to the propane tank while in transport. 🔥

This little thing is pretty sweet. If you’re looking for max warmth on a hunting trip I would go with the big one. The R1 is perfect for ambiance and heat on a cool night. I was skeptical of the flame height and happily proven wrong. Great size, great addition to my gear kit.

Love how easy it is to set up and have a fire going. We normally have to situate our rig in a way to make sure the smoke from a normal fire isn’t billowing inside making everything smell like smoke.
We park, and then put the howl wherever we want to sit. Daytime? Set it up in the shade! Windy? Set it up behind a windbreak. Not windy but want some ambiance, set it up on top of a cement picnic table! Whatever ya want!

Love the Howl!
Quality of workmanship is fantastic. We get campfire bans every year so are going to enjoy this so much over our current lousy propane fire ring. We had a wood burning fire last weekend but it was damp and cold so we put the howl between our camp chairs and felt much warmer. I always say you get what you pay for and I feel I got very good value with the howl. I think I will be passing it down to my kids. Just would like to have an option to cook a pot of stew on it.

Just took our r1 on an RV trip across western Colorado and Utah. Fire risks are super high so wood fires are banned at almost every campground we’ve stayed at and the Howl has been a great alternative.
It’s super compact, sets up really fast, and creates a great fire. Way better than trying to lug around a gas fire pit designed to live on your backyard!
