This mini-watercolor set is the same size I've used in classes I've taken. It's perfect for a beginner--I didn't want to invest a lot in paint until I knew I would stick with watercolor. This kit has an excellent range of colors and is compact. I could carry it in a backpack or purse. The brush is better quality than some I've gotten at hobby stores and has a dedicated spot on the paint tray.

I really like this pen. It is a really fine tip so if you write in a large font it may not suit you. I can write both big and small, so this pen works great for my smaller font. It tends to drag and damage the paper if the line is too long or big for the tip of the pen.
