Our dogs don’t mind their collars at all. The cat chewed his off, so he will have to try it again later. Maxxy doesn’t smell bad anymore with the fruit smell that comes from the piece we put on their collars. And the smaller dos like not having to scratch. I bought this for my 165lb Great Dane Xerxes who was always getting ticks in his ears as he sniffs the ground and not a fan of me removing them. Xerxes has *not* had a flea nor tick since I put this color on ! I won’t use chemical products, -which are basically doses of poison, on any of my 5 dogs. The scent is very strong when you first open the package. We did as suggested and let it sit outside the home for a couple of days. It took a little while for the scent to be mild. He wears it outside only. I remove it while in the house. I like that it's a better fit with his regular size collar. My dog and I love this collar ! I love it because it keeps the ticks off the dog! When my dog doesn’t get ticks then it means I don’t get any on me . My dog use to bring them inside the house even using the veterinarians meds but when I purchased this it did even better !! The ticks don’t even bite my dog with this collar and it’s all natural .
