This was my first attempt at any resin work! The chess board mold is very well made. Everything looked great after completing. Learned lessons though. More pigment in the white so the under color doesn’t show through. Use a thickset for the back and not an art resin. Mine was thick and had a couple small spots that were not mixed well so were gummy. Looking forward to trying it again!

Everything works great with exception of the 4 screws that are used for the vacuum port. They did not “cinch “ down. I used Ca glue( a dab ) on each screw and now seems ok. What would you suggest? And a couple of set screws on the fixture on the slide bars loosened themselves out and are somewhere on my shop floor. Neither issues are affecting operation however. If there was a parts list that had the exact size I could easily replace them

2nd Board I made with this Mold, for my neighbors who run a family daycare. Came out good, would have been great but that was my inexperience with added a laminated logo in it...it kept shifting and I lifted it because it kept moving. Doing so added bubbles under the logo..luckily it goes with the design.

The best chessboard mold! Of course I bought a total of 4 of the thin flimsy ones and either tore a hole or just ripped in half.

I tried to make my own base and rail supports out of a piece of acrylic. Spent 2-3 hours measuring and laying out where I needed to drill, then off to the drill press. Needless to say, I didn't do a great job. Ended up ordering the U1 plates. Everything lined up perfectly and got to flattening. These plates are the way to go!

I love this mold. I live on the border of Texas and Mexico and this calendar is regularly seen in restaurants around here. I decided to use an intense chameleon green to make it different than all of the ones I've seen around here. I really like how it came out. I did not fill the mold to the top. The finished piece is 1/2" thick, which is perfect. Lots of fun. I love the detail in the mold.

This is my first use of a silicone mold. The HDPE mold I was using was warping after several uses, rendering it useless.
The biggest benefit of this silicone mold is the little amount of seepage of resin under the boards, weighing each piece of wood down with 25 pounds. I cut the length about 1/16" beyond 18" for a snug fit, and this seems to be enough to prevent side seepage. Having a cleaner underside makes finishing the board so much faster. i designed some chess pieces and a board with spaces between the squares and assumed i was doomed to making the boards out of wood until i stumbled on this mold. it doesnt quite meet fide specs for tournament play but other than that it matches my original design perfectly! even as complicated as the surface is the boards come out of the mold almost effortlessly! 5 stars!
