Very comfortable, my wife shoots IDPA and Steel Challenge, and I shoot steel challenge as well. I bought a set for both of us. We tried them out at our range, then at IDPA, and then Steel Challenge. They worked flawlessly. Wife always complain that the ear muffs hurt. Now she does not have that problem. Wife and I told her sister about them, she also shoots IDPA and Steel Challenge. I received my headset and just in time for Gator Nationals! They worked amazingly! The video gives you an idea of the noise level, and the earphones dud their job protecting my ears. As a bonus I was able to listen to my own soundtrack too. I finally got out to the range for a meet and try out the X-core. If I were to sum it up in one phrase: Freedom. Freedom from bulky earmuffs and foam inserts. I have had the AXIL GS Extreme 2.0 Earbuds for a few months throughout hunting season and I gotta tell anyone reading this... THEY ARE BEYOND AMAZING. These are interesting and I'm still learning how to use them. The smallest foam pieces are a little too big for my ears. Once turned on and inserted properly, they definitely reduce the loudness of the environment. I do have to turn up the volume when I want to listen to someone and turn is down when I want to shoot because in the indoor range, the echo of the shot can be heard when the volume is high enough to listen to someone else.
