I am using Fluent Pet with 4 dogs. The GSD is quite adept at smacking the buttons, the others are less enthusiastic but do so. So far none understand why they are pushing a button, but they know Mom is really happy when they do. This early in the game it is better to address the product. It took a few months with some accidental presses before the my kitten started using the button intentionally. Now he's using 3 buttons (play, outside, and eat). He seems to know what they mean and use them accordingly. He is seeming more cuddly and connected now, though very demanding at times. I actually purchased the starter kit previously but it was the original style buttons. I was trying them with my cat at the time and he wasn't interested. I have a puppy now and she is using them to ask to go outside to POTTY and also to play BALL and TUG. Treasure loved her buttons as a puppy! We started around 6 months old, and she learned super fast. She is 2 years old now and really only uses her buttons to say “want”, “outside,” or “oma” (grandma) on her own. Walks are her favorite but she doesn’t initiate asking for them, she just prefers to only use the buttons on the outside of the sideboard now. I have a golden retriever that is five months old. Using the Fluent Pet program has been lots of fun…especially strategizing our starting words and placement of buttons. I love that you have so much info available to inform our journey.
